Ronda Rousey will get first shot at Amanda Nunes

Will Ronda get her belt back?!

UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Ronda Rousey will compete for the bantamweight championship whenever she decides to return to the Octagon ring. White, who himself is not sure of Rousey’s return, has revealed that a title shot will be waiting for her.

Despite the loss, Rousey remains the top contender for the women’s bantamweight title, according to White who has said that she could face current champion Amanda Nunes if she wants.

“Ronda’s going to make that decision. Hopefully, I would like to see her fight this year, but it could be early next year too. Whoever the champion is at that time is who Ronda will fight,” White said as quoted by Fox Sports.

If Rousey does not make her comeback by the end of the year, former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm would likely take her spot to face Nunes in what will be her first title defence.

“If Ronda comes back, Ronda will get the shot. We’ll see what happens with Holly Holm in her next fight, she’s fighting on FOX. It’s all good stuff,” he added.

The women’s bantamweight title has changed hands thrice so far this year. Tate is the latest losing to Nunes at UFC 200 on 9 July. No fighter since Rousey has managed to defend the bantamweight title. The Brazilian Nunes will look to change that record when she fights later this year.
